About Lifeguard Training
The Darien YMCA offers the most up to date and nationally recognized American Red Cross Lifeguard Training program. The course content and activities prepare lifeguard candidates to recognize emergencies, respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and prevent drowning and other incidents.
Certifications included in this class include
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 2 years)
- First Aid (valid for 2 years)
- Lifeguard Training (valid for 2 years)
Requirements and other details
Participants must be a minimum of 15 years old and be able to pass swimming prerequisites. No refunds given to those who cannot pass the prerequisites. All course materials are included.

WATERFRONT LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
Waterfront skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in open-water areas. Candidates must possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate to participate in the Waterfront module.
