Anatolie Vartosu

Anatolie Vartosu brings with him over 30 years of experience in gymnastics, physical education, track and field, and soccer. A native of the Republic of Moldova, Anatolie holds a prestigious Master of Sport degree in Gymnastics, Track and Field, and Soccer from the College of Sports. His impressive athletic background includes competing as an elite marathon runner, with qualifications for the 1996 Olympics.

Anatolie’s professional journey has taken him across the globe, including his work with SOS, an international organization dedicated to improving the lives of orphans in over 200 countries. His passion lies in nurturing children’s self-esteem, confidence, and overall success in life through sports.

In 2003, Anatolie was invited to the United States to compete in the Clearwater Marathon, where he continued his legacy by winning several races, including the inaugural Little Rock Arkansas Marathon.

In 2010, Anatolie joined the Darien YMCA team, initially coaching the development program. His commitment and expertise led him to oversee the House Team, which later evolved into the XCEL program. Anatolie worked tirelessly to create an environment where gymnasts could balance rigorous training with the flexibility to engage in extracurricular activities outside the organization, helping to cultivate well-rounded athletes.

In recognition of his dedication and outstanding contributions, Anatolie was promoted to XCEL Head Coach in 2019. Under his leadership, the program has continued to thrive, offering athletes the opportunity to excel in gymnastics while maintaining a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

His lifelong dedication to fitness and youth development makes him an asset to the coaching team.
